Palmistry is the ancient discipline which uses the shape, lines and figures on the human palm to decipher the person’s character, but also give predictions about the person’s potential and destiny.
It dates way back to ancient times, and its origins are in ancient India and China.
Palmistry takes into consideration all details and markings on the palm, such as its shape, the color, lines, finger shape and length, mounds, special symbols, etc. A skilled palmist can discover many facts about the person who stands before them just by observing their palms.
This unique discipline uses our body to give us details about our character and destiny. It can give us details about our ancestry, family, health, love life, profession, wealth and overall success and happiness in life, or different areas of life.
Palmists use both palms for reading, but the data on the right hand (or the dominant hand which the person uses more than the other) are prevailing. The other palm’s details are used for additional information.
Beside other markings on the palm, the lines are essential for palmistry readings. Some lines are considered general, and they are present in almost every palm, and some of them are rare and appear in a small number of palms.
Lines are formed throughout the person’s life, and some of them can disappear. They follow the person’s development throughout their life.
Life Line – Meaning
The life line is considered as one of the three major lines on the palm, besides the head and heart line. The life line usually starts on the edge of the palm between the index finger and the thumb, and usually extends to the thumb’s base in the form of a semicircle.
The line is in general considered a sign of the person’s longevity, but the interpretation of this line is much more complex than that. This line mostly reveals the person’s overall wellbeing and vitality, as well as their life energy.
Some markings on this line could reveal the possibility of accidents or some serious illness the person might suffer from during their lifetime.
In the case of examining the life line, usually both hands are used with equal importance, to determine the overall health condition of the person and their longevity.
Life line missing: If the life line is missing, and the other two major lines are present on the palm that is usually not a good sign for the person’s wellbeing. The life line missing on the palm is considered a sign of short life and bad health.
The person is likely to experience accidents and illness during their life. This is a sign of an anxious person prone to stress of all kinds. It is a sign of nervousness.
Short life line: If the life line is short, that isn’t a good sign. It often indicates a person with weak health prone to illnesses. This line usually isn’t a sign of a short life, but it does indicate difficulties and problems with health and other misfortune. The person is not open and easy going, but rather timid and closed off.
This person has a lot of integrity. In some cases, if the life line is short and shallow, people who possess such a line can be easily influenced by other people.
If the short life line is deep, it could be a sign of great physical stamina and endurance.
Long and deep rose colored life line: If the life line is long and deep, and has rose color, the person is usually resistant to accidents and diseases, and has an overall good vitality. It can be described as energetic and full of life.
Shallow and unclear life line: If the life line is shallow and unclear, that is not a good sign regarding the person’s health and overall wellbeing. For men there is a possibility of problem with their prostate and for women there is a tendency of gynecological problems.
These people often struggle at the beginning of their career, and things get better as they age.
Clear and thick life line: If the life line is thick and very clearly marked on the palm, the person is often of good health, but prone to doing physical labor. Many athletes and sportsmen have this kind of life line.
Narrow and thin life line: If the life line is narrow and thin, the person lacks vitality, stamina, and resistance, and is prone to various illnesses and health issues. This type of line indicates that the person doesn’t have endurance to go through hardships or resist some severe diseases as some other people with deep and strong life lines.
This line could make the person nervous prone to stress and anxiety. They have an ability to sense the feelings and energy of other people.
These people are usually not very muscular and enduring and should never push their limits because they will lose that battle.
This life line often makes the person lazy and prone to procrastinating. They often lack physical energy.
Straight life line which runs close to the thumb: If the life line is almost straight and runs near the thumb, the person often lacks energy and usually gets tired easily. These people are often very cautious in their romantic life and don’t relax easily. They take their time before getting to know the person.
The shape of this line running near the thumb diminishes the size of the Venus mount, which often makes these people cold, unemotional, lacking desire for physical intimacy and attraction towards the opposite gender.
These people are less likely to engage in relationships and tend to be loners. They appear disinterested and cold.
Semicircular life line: If the life line is semicircular and runs around the base of the thumb, the person is energetic and full of enthusiasm. This is an easy going person and open to new experiences. This shape of the life line creates a large mount of Venus which makes the person warm, passionate, sympathetic, generous and attractive.
They often marry early due to their open and passionate nature. These people often have a long life and sturdy constitution. They have a strong vitality.
Double or triple life line: If the person has two or three life lines running parallel, that is an excellent sign, indicating a strong vitality of the person. These people are prone to easy self-recovery after an injury or disease.
They are very resistant and don’t get sick easily. They are often supported and protected by their family.
This is often an indication that you have a twin brother or sister. In some cases, it is an indication of a double life you are leading.
Chained life line: If the life line is chained, that is not a good sign, and usually indicates poor health. The person with a chained life line is likely to be prone to illnesses, especially of their digestive system. These people need to be careful and take good care of their health.
A chained life line could indicate emotional problems as well.
This type of line could indicate a person with a life path which brings their focus in many different directions.
Chained life line is often a sign of recurring illnesses. If only a part of the line is chained, the person will suffer from these weaknesses only a portion of their lives.
Life line made of ladder like short lines: If the life line is created from short ladder like lines, the person is unstable and delicate. They are prone to illnesses and are not very enduring and resistant.
Life line made of fine lines close together: If the life line isn’t a single deep line, but a set of fine lines placed close together, that describes the person as very nervous and delicate, and prone to weakness in general. This person lacks energy and initiative.
Life line with islands: If the life line has an island or several islands, that is usually a bad sign, and indicates an illness and spending time in the hospital. The bigger the size of the island, the more severe the illness will be. The part of life where the island is present on the life line will be the period when the person could experience these issues.
Broken life line: If the life line is broken, that is not a good sign, and it signifies sudden accidents, illness, struggles, or danger in the person’s life. It is often a sign of some unexpected changes and the need for the person to adapt to these changes which they usually don’t want.
The longer the interval between the broken parts of the life line is, the longer the illness or the damage of unfortunate events will last. If the broken parts of the life line overlap, that is a good sign and indicates a recovery after a serious illness.
When there is a short line parallel to the broken lifeline or when a square connects the broken parts of the life line that is a good sign, indicating that the person will be protected during danger or will quickly recover after some serious illness.
Branches on life line: Upward branches usually signify success and progress during life.
If there is one upward branch above the life line, that is a sign that the person is an optimist and knowledgeable. This sign could indicate the person rising to fame and fortune during their life.
If there is more than one upward branch on the life line, that indicates the person’s ambitions and ideals.
If there are many branches on the life line, that is a sign of exaggerated imagination and the person being overly dreamy and lacking focus and determination. It is a sign that the person lacks groundedness and doesn’t have much capacity to rise above average due to lack of persistence and motivation.
Downward branches are often a sign of poor health and misfortune. The person could suffer from emotional or physical health conditions.
If the person has many downward branches on the end of the life line, that is usually a sign of declining of the person’s physical condition and overall wellbeing. This often makes the person feel tired, and sometimes it could indicate feeling lonely.
If diagonal lines are crossing the end of the life line, that could be a sign of disease in the later years of the person’s life.
If one clear branch splits downwards from the middle of the life line, that usually means your separation from your family and living separately.
If the life line has a branch near the end, resembling a fork that could mean that the person could become very busy in the middle of their lives towards their older years.
They might often change countries and might even decide to move to another country where they could establish a prosperous career and substantial success.
If the life line ends in a trident that usually indicates that the person is fond of traveling and travels a lot in life.
Tassels on the beginning of life line: If the person has tassels at the beginning of the life line that could indicate their loneliness in old age mostly because of the absence of their children.
Cross on the life line or small lines cutting the life line: If there is a cross on the life line and/or if there are small lines cutting it, that is not a good sign, and indicates potential danger, illness, or misfortunes during the person’s lifetime. If the cross is clearly marked or the lines are very short, the worse misfortune will befall on the person.
Many short lines cutting through the life line: If there are many short lines cutting through the life line that usually indicates a person who is a worrisome type and is always worried about something. This usually indicates that the person has poor health or has a life filled with difficulties.
Star on the life line: If the life line has a sign of a star which is made of three short lines, that is not a good sign, and it indicates illness the person could experience. If the star appears on the part where there is a gap between the two parts of a broken life line, that sign could indicate avoiding a sudden illness.
